System-On-Chip Architectures and Implementations for Private-Key Data Encryption The rapid developments in communication systems have resultedin a need to perform encryption on data in real-time. Encryption ofdigital information in real-time holds the key to the successfulgrowth of major applications in areas such as satellite communicationsand electronic commerce. Cryptography is typically a mathematicallyintensive process which, to date, has mainly been implemented insoftware. However, such methods are slow encryption decryption and cannot cope with thedemands of rapidly growing broadband communication systems. Therefore, innovative hardware solutions involving mapping of complexmathematical operations onto special purpose silicon circuitarchitectures provide the only feasible solution.In "System-on-Chip Architectures encryption decryption and Implementations forPrivate-Key" "Data Encryption," new generic siliconarchitectures for the DES encryption decryption and Rijndael symmetric key encryptionalgorithms are presented. The generic architectures can be utilised torapidly encryption decryption and effortlessly generate system-on-chip cores, which supportnumerous application requirements, most importantly, different modesof operation encryption decryption and encryption encryption decryption and decryption capabilities. In addition, efficient silicon SHA-1, SHA-2 encryption decryption and HMAC hash algorithm architecturesare described.
